The Catholic Church in South West Queensland LIVE STREAM MASS

Horizons

Horizons, published by us, is our own quarterly magazine. It’s full colour and available for free across the Diocese. Horizons is an important method of communication and outreach to parishioners and the wider community. It features stories of events and projects from local parishes as well as information about ministry and services offered by Diocesan Agencies.

Can’t read the flipbook viewer or PDF versions of Horizons? Want to see more photos we couldn’t fit in the print version? You can view all stories and additional content here >>

  • Walking the Path: Sychar's Labyrinth

From Sychar’s beginning, there was a dream of a possible future labyrinth in the garden. The dream lay dormant for a few years while attention was focused on developing three contemplative spaces: Creation-God’s First Incarnation (The St. Francis Garden), One in

the Mystery of Suffering (spherical sculpture), the Well of Encounter. Once the foundational structure of the garden had emerged, the dream of having a labyrinth resurfaced.

Follow the journey of a plain patch of grass transformed into a tool for meditation and spiritual reflection. Read more on page 9.

  • Biblical Garden Transforms Unused Space

In 2019 an underutilised learning space in the senior area of Our Lady of the Southern Cross College Dalby was refurbished into a chapel for

    college prayer liturgies and gatherings.

Following the creation of this beautiful space, an opportunity arose to utilise a vacant area of the grounds to the rear of the chapel for something new.

Read more about how Dalby brought their Biblical Garden to life. Read more on page 22.

  • Lenten Message Inspires Art

During Lent this year, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development engaged Italian Street Artist Mauro Pallotta to provide a visual interpretation of Pope Francis’ Lenten Message.

The first piece of cartoon-style art shows Pope Francis with a wheelbarrow navigating a road full of difficulties.

Find out how St Anthony’s Parish Toowoomba took inspiration from the famous image this Easter. Read More on Page 29
